Medical examination (sports medicine) for an amateur athlete
18+
Competition in sports around the world requires an
athlete to undergo basic examinations in order to gain athletic
ability. The examinations must cover all athletes who want
to start and continue training in qualified sport, understood as a
form of human activity related to participation in sports
competition, organized or conducted in a specific sports discipline
by a Polish sports association or entities acting under its
authority.
Examinations should be performed periodically before
training commencement. Of course, the examinations should also be
performed after an injury or a longer illness.
It should be noted that examinations are necessary to start and
continue training and are not only a condition for admission to
sports competitions.
Consent to start and continue sports activities may be issued by
a primary health care physician - on the basis of medical
documentation, results of balance tests - medical certificates
about the health condition enabling safe participation in sports
competitions organized by a Polish sports association and decisions
about the ability to practice a given sport by children,
adolescents and players, if the physician does not find that it is
necessary to issue such a certificate by a specialist in the field
of sports medicine or a physician with a certificate of completion
of the introductory course in the field of sports medicine (e.g.
when s/he receives information about the intention to practice
competitive sports), (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 395, item 396
and item 397.v).
At Rehasport, we make sure that the certification on the
ability to practice a given sport is issued by a physician with
appropriate qualifications, i.e. specialists in sports medicine and
doctors certified by the Polish Society of Sports Medicine
entitling them to sports medical examinations.
For the needs of amateur sport, we have created packages that
include examinations most often performed in various sports.
