Wrist ultrasonography - Rehasport
The wrist examination, conducted using an ultrasound scanner,
allows for locating and assessing the size of trauma in
post-traumatic and chronic wrist pains. The ultrasonography
involves an assessment of the soft tissues and bone surfaces using
a ultrasound scanner. During the examination, which is painless and
non-invasive, the doctor applies a gel-covered transducer to the
wrist. This way, the images are assessed on the ultrasonography
instrument’s monitor in real time. The indication for the wrist
ultrasonography examination are acute or chronic pains, tumours and
ganglion cysts as well as post-traumatic or degenerative changes.
After the examination, the doctor develops an impression, attaches
the image and gives it to the patient.
Contraindications for an ultrasonography examination
- a relative contraindication for performing an ultrasonography
examination are open, unhealed wounds at the examined spot
