Knee joint ultrasonography - Rehasport
The knee joint ultrasonography is a very precise ultrasound
examination that allows for diagnosing degenerative disorders and
changes taking place in the joint. The examination, during which a
gel-covered transducer is applied to the patient’s joint and
particular anatomical structures are scanned, is minimally invasive
and painless. The examination is conducted with the patient lying
on his or her back. The patient is lying on his or her stomach in
case of a popliteal fossa examination. The knee ultrasonography
allows for assessing the joint’s soft parts, such as ligaments,
joint capsule, menisci and cartilages. The indications for the
examination includes knee traumas and injuries, suspicion of
haematoma, abscess or cyst, synovial membrane hypertrophy as well
as joint disorders, including rheumatoid arthrosis. After the
examination, the doctor develops an impression, attaches the image
and gives it to the patient.
