Shoulder joint ultrasonography - Rehasport
The shoulder joint ultrasonography is aimed at assessing the
joint’s structures in terms of pain, motor and muscular strength
limitation diagnostics. The ultrasonography mainly provides an
image of the soft tissues, i.e. muscles, ligaments, tendons,
cartilages, joint capsule, synovial membrane and synovial fluid.
The examination, during which an ultrasound transducer is applied
to the patient’s shoulder and particular anatomical structures are
viewed, is minimally invasive and painless.
The examination allows for detecting fresh post-traumatic
changes and chronic overload changes. An important part of the
shoulder joint ultrasonography is the dynamic assessment. It allows
for assessing particular joint structures in motion. After the
examination, the doctor develops an impression, attaches the image
and gives it to the patient.
Contraindications for an ultrasonography examination
- a relative contraindication for performing an ultrasonography
examination are open, unhealed wounds at the examined spot
