Gait and posture analysis

The intensity of everyday life, a sporty lifestyle, work or returning to activity after an injury or operation puts a lot of strain on our bodies. Over time, changes that are hard to notice occur, which affect how we feel and how we move. 

The motor pattern assessment consists of static and dynamic parts, which are carried out on a special platform equipped with nearly 300,000 sensors. The examination is preceded by a physiotherapy interview (completion of a medical questionnaire) and a detailed examination by the physiotherapist on the couch.

The static foot test, which is performed at immobility on a specialised platform, allows the distribution of loads on the feet to be analysed and allows postural stability to be assessed. Moreover, a computerised foot examination is performed on a podiatric  scanner to obtain morphometric information.

The assessment of movement pattern is based on a dynamic test, illustrating how the load on the feet is shaped during movement, giving information about the alignment of other body parts, movement pattern and increased energy expenditure during walk. The dynamic test verifies that the patient's walk and foot biomechanics are normal.

 

Product benefits and scope

The comprehensive walk analysis with a report prepared by a physiotherapist will take 2 hours, the movement pattern assessment alone on the platform takes approximately 35-45 minutes.

After each examination, results are generated that are converted into degrees of disturbance from the patient's most relevant examination data (0 - no disturbance, 1 - slight disturbance, 2 - moderate disturbance, 3 - significant disturbance), allowing an assessment of whether everything is correct.

Based on a compilation of the results of the static foot test, an assessment of the movement pattern on the platform, the physiotherapist gives recommendations for further management, including rehabilitation treatment with the possible use of personalised orthotic insoles.
